Umut Erhan, born in 1988, is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Istanbul. His main focus is music as a composer, producer, and keyboardist; however, he is also known as a digital artist and architect. He started music at 8 in the national choir. Then he took private piano lessons during his high school years. At the age of 15, he started composing small piano and orchestra pieces. While making plans for a music school, he ended up studying architecture at METU(ODTÜ) as a result of strict parenthood. His dreams of becoming a classical pianist turned into being a keyboardist at that period. During this time and after graduation he played in various funk, soul, and rock bands in his hometown, Ankara.
After working in an architecture firm as a day job and playing at night time for a while, in 2015, Umut Erhan caught the attention of the music industry with a Youtube video in which he displays his unusual playing/programming techniques. He was finally invited to Istanbul to join the cover band “The Shot” formed by well-known professional musicians from Turkey. Despite being never a fan of it, suddenly he found himself in the Turkish Pop music scene. He performed with Turkey’s top celebrities and artists as a full-time touring keyboardist and music director. Some of the names include; Kenan Dogulu (Pop Star), Ozan Dogulu (Producer/DJ), Bora Uzer (Hip Hop/Soul Artist), Ajda Pekkan (“Turkish SuperStar”).
